The President of the National People’s Assembly receives the Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya to Algeria

The President of the National People’s Assembly, Mr. Ibrahim Boughali, today, Wednesday, February 15, 2023, received at the headquarters of the Assembly, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya to Algeria, His Excellency Mr. Peter Katana Angore.

The meeting discussed bilateral relations between Kenya and Algeria and how to enhance them in various fields. Particular focus was placed on the parliamentary side which was supported by the establishment of a Kenya-Algeria Parliamentary Friendship Group, which is expected to constitute an effective mechanism in strengthening ties of cooperation in all fields, including the exchange of experiences and expertise.

For his part, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya praised the depth of relations between the two countries, appreciating the efforts made to promote bilateral cooperation, and stressed that the established Friendship Group “will give a strong impetus to relations and open a new window for cooperation in various fields.”

The meeting also dealt with the arrangements for the official visit to Algeria by the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Kenya, Rt. Hon.Moses Wateng’ula at the invitation of Mr. Ibrahim Boughali, Speaker of the National People’s Assembly, from 17 to 25 February, 2023

This visit will be an opportunity to embody the level of excellent relations that have brought the two countries together for decades, to show what joint cooperation has achieved in various fields, and to discuss the possibility of giving it renewed dynamism. During his stay in Algeria, Mr. Wetang’ula will hold talks with the Speakers of both Houses of Parliament and will hold several meetings with senior government officials of the country.
