Review of COVID-19 travel restrictions into Kenya
In view of the above, the Ministry of Health has recommended the following additional measures, effective 1st September 2022, with regards to travellers arriving into the country:
- All travellers above the age of 12 years arriving into the country through any point of entry will be required to show proof of either:
- COVID-19 vaccination or
- A negative COVID-19 PCR test result conducted not more than 72 hours before departure
- Travellers below the age of 12 years shall be exempted from the requirement of vaccination certificate or PCR test.
- Any traveller above the age of 12 years arriving at any point of entry with no proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR test result or those with flu-like symptoms, shall be subjected to rapid antigen test at their own cost of 30 USD. Any person who tests positive on the rapid antigen test will be required to self-isolate as per guidance from the Ministry of Health on isolation.
- Persons travelling out of the country will be required to abide by the particular travel, health and COVID-19 related requirements of the destination country.
- Truck drivers entering the country shall no longer be required to have proof of PCR test if they are fully vaccinated. Unvaccinated truck drivers shall be requirement to be in possession of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result conducted not more than 72 hours before arrival.
- Pre-departure rapid diagnostic tests or PCR testing may be considered at the discretion of any of the airlines departing from or terminating in Kenya.
