DRC formally joins EAC after signing treaty of accession

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on Friday 8th April 2022 formally joined the East African Community (EAC) after the signing of the Treaty of the Accession of the DRC into the EAC. DRC becomes the seventh member of the EAC, joining Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.

The inclusion of DRC into the community will put EAC in a better position to combine resources to develop the much needed infrastructure especially the main transit corridors running from East to West.
