Amb. Peter Angore takes part on the inauguration of the Algeria-Kenya parliamentary friendship group ceremony
The “Algeria-Kenya” Parliamentary Friendship Group was inaugurated 10th November 2022 at the National People’s Assembly (APN), under the supervision of Hon. Salim Merah the Chairman of the Committee for Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and the Community Abroad in the National People’s Assembly.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Kenya’s Ambassador to Algeria, Peter Katana Angore, and Mr. Farouk Boumaaza, the Deputy Director for West and Central Africa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad.
In his remarks, Mr. Merah noted Algeria’s interest in strong cooperation and friendship relations uniting the two countries. He stressed the need to promote bilateral cooperation relations through the creation of new communication mechanisms to encourage parliamentary exchanges at the political, economic and social levels, and to allow the exchange information related to legislative and legal fields, particularly with regard to current regional and international developments. He further underscored that the bilateral relations between the two countries have been strong and dynamic recalling the participation of the Speaker of the APN, Hon.. Ibrahim Boughali, in the of inauguration ceremony of Kenya’s new President, H.E. William Ruto, and the fruitful talks he had during this visit with senior Kenyan officials on ways to deepen cooperative relations in all areas.
For his part, the Ambassador Angore praised the depth of relations between the two countries, commending the efforts made in promoting bilateral cooperation, also saying that the established friendship group would confer a strong impetus to relations and would open a new window for cooperation in various fields.
In his speech, Mr. Farouk Boumaaza who represented Algeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the creation of this parliamentary friendship group, was in line with a Memorandum of Understanding signed in May 2018 and it will be an additional source of development of relations of cooperation, giving them a new dimension that the National People’s Assembly (APN) will endeavor to concretize through the initiative of the activities which will achieve this.
Hon. Abdelyamine Anneb, the President of the Parliamentary Friendship Group, emphasised that the inauguration of the Group will revitalize parliamentary relations between the two legislative institutions, in addition to their contribution to the development of bilateral exchanges, in particular legislative and legal experiences, but also other issues of common interest.
