Kenya, officially the Republic of Kenya, is a sovereign state in Africa. Its capital and largest city is Nairobi. Kenya lies on the equator with the Indian Ocean to the south-east, Tanzania to the south, Uganda to the west, South Sudan to the north-west, Ethiopia to the north and Somalia to the north-east.

Entry Visas to Kenya are available for a range of short-term visits that include tourism/holiday, business, attending conferences/seminars and for family/friends visits. Entry Visas are valid for entry within ninety (90 days) from date of issue. Please note that duration of stay in the country will be specified on the visitor’s pass granted at the port of entry. The maximum duration is usually three months (90 days) from the date of entry. Visas are therefore authorization to enter and are NOT synonymous with the duration of stay in the country. visit www.immigration.go.ke or www.evisa.go.ke for more information and to apply. Single Journey Visa

Issued to applicants travelling to Kenya for short-term purposes like tourism/holiday, to attend a conference/meeting/seminar, family/friends visit and for business purposes such as board meetings, official government function, UN meetings etc…

Transit Visa

Issued for periods not exceeding three days to those transiting through Kenya to a different destination. Direct transit is exempted from visa requirements.

Diplomatic/Courtesy Visa

Issued to Diplomats and holders of official passports traveling to Kenya for official government business/functions.

The Devolved Government

Issued to any eligible foreigner who wants to visit simultaneously the Republic of Kenya, Republic of Rwanda and Republic of Uganda for tourism. The holder of the East Africa Tourist Visa shall enter from the country that issued the visa and move within the two other countries without applying for another visa or paying another visa fee. Application for EATV can be lodged at the Diplomatic missions of the Republic of Kenya, Republic of Rwanda and Republic of Uganda, or at the Immigration offices.

NB: Waiver of Visa Fees for Children Under 16 Years: 

The Government has waived visa fees for children under 16 years of age who are accompanying parents to Kenya for holidays.

The following Important facts about Kenya Citizenship are worth noting:

A person born of a Kenyan parent irrespective of the place of birth automatically becomes a citizen of Kenya by birth.

The constitution has allowed dual nationality, and restoration of citizenship of those who were citizens by birth but lost under the provisions of the provisions of the repealed constitution.

The new constitution came into effect from the date of its promulgation on the 27th August 2010.

The Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act which implements Chapter 3 of the New Constitution commenced on 30th August 2011, effectively repealing the Kenya Citizenship Act Cap. 170, the Immigration Act Cap. 172 and the Aliens Restriction Act Cap. 173 Laws of Kenya.
